We are now a week into the new year and I wanted to share with you some tips to make this your best year yet. I personally am not super big on setting New Year’s resolutions. I strive to make resolutions throughout the year and work on them constantly. But there is something so nice about a new year and a “fresh” start. This is a time that a lot of people make changes in their life or set goals for themselves. I want to share with you some tips on how to make 2018 your b*tch.
Plan your day around the hardest things you have to do.
I started doing this about a few months ago and I have noticed a big difference in my productivity. Figure out the night before or that morning what your hardest thing that you need to accomplish is and plan your day around it. Getting your days hardest task done in the morning will allow your day to sail smoothly from there. This also allows you to put in all of your energy to that task. I promise you that once you accomplish your hardest task that you will feel so proud of your self.
Make yourself a to-do list the night before.
I am such a Type A person. I have to plan my days, I am not a go with the flow type of gal. I have tried to be and it is a true challenge for me. Creating a to-do list can also go hand in hand with accomplishing your hardest task at the beginning of your day. Being able to check things off your to-do list is a great way to feel successful and that you have spent your day being productive.
Take some “you” time daily.
This is essential to your mental health, even if it is only for a couple of minutes. I like to do it every night right before bed. I use my Amazon Dot and do one minute of mindfulness. Basically, it is a minute guided meditation. This minute just helps me center myself and just have a moment to check up on myself. Mental health is super important and not checking in with yourself is not healthy. Like I said even if it is only for a few moments it is essential.
Start keeping a notebook with you everywhere you go.
I personally already do this. In order to remember certain things, I like to jot it down in a notebook. And come on it’s hard to turn down an adorable notebook. For me, it isn’t the same writing it down on my phone. Maybe it’s just me but I still prefer to handwrite things. Even if you are just writing down a shopping list, or maybe a quote you heard that touched you it is nice to have somewhere that is dedicated to just that.
Figure out areas in your life that you want to make improvements on.
This goes hand in hand with taking time for yourself on a daily basis. Finding out areas in your life that you can improve on will allow you to also find out what makes you happy. Being self-aware is essential. Taking this time to figure out what you want to improve in your life can help make this year your best year yet.
Plan your time properly.
This kind of goes back to planning your time around your hardest task as well as making a to-do list. Don’t spend your time wasting it on being unprepared and unorganized. You have way more important things that you should be doing! Planning your time will also allow you to feel more organized and prepared.
Making goals for yourself is important, but at the same point make sure that your goals aren’t too far fetched. Let’s say that your goal is to become an actor. Becoming an actor isn’t that easy. Finding out the different steps that you need to take and working towards one of the smaller goals is more realistic. Dream big but at the same time don’t dream too big. I don’t mean to sound harsh but I want you to work towards your larger goals.
Never give up on your dreams.
This kind of piggybacks off of my last tip. Dreaming realistic will allow for you to be successful. But giving up on your dreams will not help you. Set your goals and work constantly towards achieving them. Believe in yourself and I know that you can do this babe!
Take time to journal daily.
Journaling is another way that you can check up on yourself. This is also a way to document your memories. Write down how you feel, how your day was, what you did, etc. Journaling will be a way for you to express yourself. This is a time of self-realization and self-reflection, it can help you find who you are as a person.
Make a playlist for success.
These don’t have to be any particular songs, they can be some boss a** b*tch songs, that make you feel like a queen/king. Put some Queen Bee on your playlist and rock out to it whenever you need some inspiration or a song to dance around to.
Cut all negativity out of your life ASAP.
During 2017, I really worked to cut out the negativity in my life. I was on Pinterest one day and I saw this quote and I remind myself of it daily, “5 by 5 rule…If it’s not gonna matter in 5 years, don’t spend more than 5 minutes upset by it.” -Unkown It is so true, a lot of spend time worrying about things that are not going to matter later in life. Taking the time to cut the negativity out of your life will make you feel so much better. I try to keep a positive mindset and having little to no negativity in your life will help.
Learn that it is okay to say “no.”
Sometimes we say “yes” to everything that our friends, family ask us to. We get so caught up with life and we don’t realize how crazy busy we are. Our life is so crazy booked because we feel bad saying “no.” Something that I have learned is that if you say no to hanging out with your friends because you need some you time and they get upset by it then they aren’t your true friends. I know this may sound crazy but you need to sometimes say no to hanging out with friends and just hang out with yourself. This goes back to making sure that your mental health is good shape. It is okay to say “no!”
Take a break from social media.
We are on every social media possible Insta, FB, Snapchat, Pinterest, Twitter, the list goes on and on. The average person spends around 4 hours a day on their phone. We get so caught up with what everyone is posting about and we become attached to our phones and social media. This is not healthy at all! Turn your phone and laptop off even if it is only for a night to just take a break. This is perfectly okay to do. Just rediscover the world without your phone.
Figure out what makes you truly happy.
This may sound a lot easier than it is. Finding out what makes you truly happy goes hand in hand with discovering who you are as a person. Rather than just going along with what your friends like find out what you like to do. Your friends might like to go shopping every day but you might like to meditate every day. Figuring what makes you truly happy will result in you being happy with who you are as a person and your life will be filled with joy.
I hope that you can use some of these tips to help make 2018 your year. Take time to work on yourself and don’t get caught up in your daily routine of things. Take a step back and breathe and center yourself. I believe that 2018 is going to be our year. I believe in you!
