Happy Wednesday! I am celebrating today because it is my birthday, shout out to all my SCORPIOS babes! I wanted to compile a list of some important things that I have learned so far in my life. These are honestly just things that I have had to learn through life experiences and honestly, just growing up.
Here is what I came up with…
YOU CANNOT CHANGE PEOPLE
This lesson has taken me a long time to realize, but I finally feel like I had this ah-ha moment! We spend a lot of our life worrying about other people. Sometimes we get so caught up that we forget that people are who they are. You may not like what someone has to say but there is nothing that you can really do about it. I know what you are thinking…”wow Sarah, that’s harsh” but it’s true. There is only so much power that you have over other people.
NOT EVERYONE IN THE WORLD IS GOING TO BE YOUR BFF
I spent a lot of time in my life trying to be nice and friends with everyone and it doesn’t work. There are going to be people that come into your life that you aren’t going to click with. Guess what?! There is absolutely nothing wrong with that! Move on and find your tribe of people that support you and uplift you!
SLEEP IS SO SO SO IMPORTANT
I have had my fair share of late nights and getting wayyyyy less than my eight hours of sleep. It took me a change of environment to realize to that sleep is such a big part of your life. I also realized that if you don’t have a good night sleep it can effect your whole day. Recently, I have been making the effort to go to bed at a decent hour and wake up early in the morning. Most importantly I have been making sure that I get a full eight hours of sleep. I am not going to lie somedays I can get my full eight hours and other nights I can only get six, but making the effort to rest and recharge is so important!
YOU NEED TO WORK HARD TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS
This lesson is mainly focusing on you! setting goals for yourself throughout your life is a must and working towards those goals has to be done by you. Having people around you to support you to achieve your goals is key but at the end of the day you are the only one that can achieve them!
STOP DWELLING ON THE SMALL THINGS
The only way that I have learned this lesson is the hard way. This kinda goes along with letting go. I am not going to lie I am definetly a type a person who focuses on all of the tiny aspects of life, but you can’t do that! If you focus on every little small detail of your life you will go crazy. This has to do with letting go and learning what is actually important in life. Is it really going to matter if you have a bad hair day or are a few minutes late to class? NO!! If your dwelling on the fact that your hair looks bad, throw it in a bun. If you are going to be a few minutes late for class, oh well, life happens!
BE PRESENT IN THE MOMENT
Being a blogger I am constantly checking my phone and laptop and sometimes missing out on things happening right in front of me! We live in such a digital age where everything in our house can be controlled by just the sound of our voice. But taking the time to turn off your phone and leave your laptop behind is the best feeling. Not just hanging out with friends to shoot pictures but hanging out with them and enjoying the company. Even if it is only for a couple hours take some time to just live in the moment.
PRIORITIZE YOURSELF
This lesson boils down to the fact that you need to take time for yourself and care for you! I make an effort every week to spend sometime caring about myself. If it’s getting a spray tan or just painting your nails, it is taking care of you. This time is important for your mental health. I have stayed in some nights just because I know that my body needs it and that I would be happier at home with Teddy.
DRINK LOTS & LOTS OF WATER
I know that this may sound like something that you have heard a million times but I thought you might need to hear it again! haha! Drinking lots of water is so good for your health and your skin. I drink so much water a day because I know that it is so good for me! Drink that water!!!
TRUST YOUR GUT
If you don’t have a good feeling about something there is a reason for that. Your gut is telling you that it is a bad idea and maybe you shouldn’t do it! I have ignored my gut feeling on so many occasions and I always regret it in the end. Now I am not saying to just always say no to things because you are nervous take chances, but if you hear that little voice inside your head telling you that it is not going to turn out well, it most likely is a bad idea.
WAKE UP EXCITED TO LIVE
Take time each morning to set a goal for yourself that day even if it is something minimal. Push yourself in excitement to that goal! This lesson has to do with looking forward to something each and every day. Somedays it may be harder to find something that you are excited about but find that little happiness.
That about wraps up some lessons that I have learned so far in my life! I hope that some of the lessons made you think and I hope that you can apply them to your life. Go out and kill there and kill it girlfriend!
xo,
Sarah Elizsabeth
