Summer is coming to an end (starting today for me) and school is back in session. I wanted to give you all a sneak peek into what I will be carrying as my school supplies for the fall semester. I will probably end up picking up more throughout the term but I wanted to show you my organization for the start of the year.
I personally enjoy school and I know that might sound crazy but I enjoy going to college because I can choose a topic that interests me, that being Elementary and Special Education. Also, the courses I take I can customize to what I want to learn more about! I am that girl that looks forward to going back to school shopping. 1. Because it means school starts soon and 2. I love all the fun school supplies they have now!
For the fall semester, I am luckily only taking five courses and have field work. I did a class over the summer semester so that I could lighten my work load for the fall semester! For fall term, I am taking mainly courses geared towards my degree such as Psychology of Exception, Sociology of the Family, and more classes for teachers LOL. But I am taking one fun course that is Creativity!
I have five notebooks one for each course. I picked them up in these fun prints and quotes. I purchased the ones with quotes from Staples for I believe $2 each and the two printed notebooks I picked up from Target for $1.50. Cute notebooks do not need to cost a lot of money ladies! I like to carry and have a notebook for each course to jot down notes or diagrams. Most of my classes my professors speak a mile a minute and will erase the board like five seconds after they write it so I type the majority of my notes. Also, because I am a perfectionist and I hate when my notes look dirty. A lot of times I will take the notes that I have typed on my MacBook (which is perfect because it weighs like nothing!) and write them in the notebook. I know what you’re thinking is this girl crazy?! But trust me it helps. Here I will explain why… Your memory remembers things the more time that it is repeated and writing something down and reading it repeatedly will help the information to get into your brain more. By writing your notes over it will allow you to do a form of studying. I highly recommend doing this. I find that it helps me when it comes time to study for a large exam.
Then I also picked up some folders for each class. This is mainly because I get TONS and tons of handouts from my professors. I like to keep them organized into the proper folder. Each class gets a color folder and that is the color that I deem for that class. For instance, if I say that Psychology of Exception is Green then I will also use a green pen to mark any assignments or homework in my planner. This just helps me with organization and remembering which color is linked to a particular course.
Planners are my KEY into my organization for school. I am constantly carrying a planner with me all the time. I even have two for this semester. I have one that I use as my school and work planner. This planner is where I write down all my homework, exams, and so on along with what my work schedule is. I then also have a bullet journal (which is kinda like a DIY planner) that I use for everything I have going on in my life. Any big assignments or exams go in here, my work schedule, along with all my blogging info. Having the two planners might seem like overkill in your opinion but for me, it helps me stay organized on all the things I have happening. Something you’ll come to learn about me is that I thrive on being busy, so having the planners makes my hectic schedule possible. The planner I use for school is the black and white striped one that I picked up from Homegoods for under $10! The black and white polka dot one is the notebook I use for a bullet journal and I picked it up from Marshalls for under $5! This proves that organizing your life does not have to mean you have to spend tons of money.
For the most part that is all the school supplies that I purchased. I mean I did pick up some pens, pencils, etc. all from Targets dollar section. I especially love the pencils because they have cute sayings on them like “Get it, girl.”
I wanted to put together this post for all of you so that you can see what I will be carrying around this semester in my backpack but also give you some of my key pointers into staying organized in the school year. If you are going back to school this semester I wish you all the luck in the world and I know you will rock it!
